May 3-5, 2019
Fernandina’s Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival is Amelia Island’s top event weekend of the year. The Festival attracts more visitors to this barrier island at the Florida-Georgia border than any other time. The festival is lways held during the first weekend in May. Well over 100,000 come to this outdoor Festival held in Fernandina’s historic district, a tradition enjoyed by generations.

Dancing In The Street

This year is the 33rd annual Dancing In The Street Festical hosted by the Beaches Town Center, where Atlantic Blvd. meets the Ocean. There will be a full day’s worth of live music, food, art and other events. The festival begins at 11am and will go on until 9:30pm.

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering and honoring persons who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. The holiday, which is currently observed every year on the last Monday of May, was most recently held on May 28, 2018. Memorial Day was previously observed on May 30 from 1868 to 1970 There is plenty to do in our city to celebrate and pay tribute to those we have lost defending our freedom. There are parades, various 5ks, golf tournaments or just enjoying the day with family and friends at a BBQ or on the beach.
